• The legendary Seán Keane will open the 2011 Tuam Trad Festival on Friday, September 16th at 7pm. Also performing on the night are the Droney's, Neillidh Mulligan, Diarmuid Meade and Rí Rá.
• Celebrity Jigs and Reels (Tuam Style) takes place on Sunday September 4th in Geoghegan's (doors 8.30pm). Tickets are €8 and will be available on the door. All proceeds will go towards the funding of the Tuam Trad Festival 2011.

• Aine Sheridan and Brid Dooley perform "Making the Pages Sing", songs of Maigh Seola, at the Ard Ri Hotel Foyer on Sunday September 18th at 1.30pm.

Welcome

Following the phenomenal success of Tuam Trad Festival 2010 the organisers have been given the inspiration and encouragement to make this festival an annual event and this year's festival will take place from the 16th to 18th September 2011.

The Festival aims to host the best of traditional entertainment, to encourage musicians to revisit Tuam and to bring together the very best of Irish musicians, singers and dancers for a weekend feast of Traditional music, song and dance.

Our Festival will start with the official opening on Friday 16th at 7pm with the legendary Seán Keane followed by sessions in various venues throughout the town.

Our workshops are very relaxed and friendly, are open to people with prior competence in student's chosen instruments and will take place on the morning of 17th September from 11am - 1pm. Dance Workshops in both Set Dancing and Sean Os Dancing will take place on Saturday afternoon. Saturday is also a fun filled day with Farmers Market, Art Exhibition, Kid's Entertainment, Concert and Open Sessions for all visitor's while outdoor Busking Competitions will take place on Saturday from 12pm - 4pm. A Ceili will be held on Saturday Night.

Following Mass in Irish on Sunday, Sessions will resume all over town with some of the countries finest musicians; we will also be hosting a concert with a surprise guest on Sunday 18th at 3p.m. and having our Kid's Trad Disco which was a great success last year. The Committee encourage everyone to notify family and friends all over the world of our dates and perhaps get them to visit Tuam for what has been hailed one of the best festivals in the country for 2010.

Workshops

The Workshops are given by professional musicians/dancers from around the country.
Prior competence in a student's chosen instrument is expected.
